Piedmont WV (1915-1957)
Piedmont coal town was owned and operated by the American Coal Company. The mines closed in 1957. Piedmont is 2.5 miles northwest of Matoaka. In 2004 there were only a few company-built structures still standing. (http://www.coalcampusa.com/sowv/flattop/mercer/mercer.htm)
